Overview
Michelle Sousa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Microbiology. She worked as a Clinical Sales Specialist for Linde Gas for five years before earning her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University, where she received the Dean’s Award for Highest Scholastic Achievement and was inducted into Pi Alpha, the National Honor Society of Physician Assistants.
With over 15 years of experience, Michelle has worked in multiple specialties, including primary care, emergency medicine, hematology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic and hand surgery, burns, and wound care.
Passionate about education, she has taught graduate-level courses at Nova Southeastern University, Gannon University, and Florida Gulf Coast University in subjects such as anatomy, hematology, oncology, neurology, and infectious disease. She has also guest lectured at the University of South Florida and currently serves as an Adjunct Clinical Coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Michelle co-authored a chapter on Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome in Essentials of Medical Genetics for Nursing and Health Professionals. She holds certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Physician Assistant Education Association.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys boating, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two children.
