Overview
Dr. Barzell founded the urology treatment center in 1978. He graduated with a B.S. from McGill University in 1963 and received an M.D. from McGill University Medcal School in 1967. He then completed a general surgical residency at Montreal General Hospital.
Dr. Barzell did his urology specialty training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. In 1972 he completed a specialty research fellowhip at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York focusing his energy on urologic Cancer. He subsequently joined the faculty at MSKCC for four years. After joining the Urology Treatment Center in 1978, he remained a member of the consultant staff of the Urology Service at MSKCC between 1978 and 1989.
Dr. Barzell is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Urology. He is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and New York. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a Diplomat of the Americal Board of Urology, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons and fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Barzell has staff privileges at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospital of Sarasota.
